Privacy

What we collect, why, and the rights you hold.

Plainly: what data Veraq collects, why, how long it is kept, and the rights participants have over it.

This page describes how Veraq handles information about participants. It is written plainly, in the same spirit as the rest of the platform: we would rather you could read and check our practice than take it on trust.

A short orientation before the detail. Some of what happens on Veraq is written to the open record and is public by design — that is how a wave can be verified. Most information about you as a person is not. This page draws that line clearly, then walks through what we collect, why, how long it is kept, and the rights you hold over it.

Not yet final

The binding privacy notice is being drafted and reviewed with legal counsel and is not final. The summaries below describe the structure and intent of that notice in plain language; they are not the legal text, and they do not replace it.

Where this summary and the final notice differ, the final notice governs. We will publish it here, dated and versioned, when it is ready.

What we collect, and why

Account and identity

What you give us to hold an account and to confirm eligibility where the law requires it. Collected so we can run an account and meet legal obligations, not to profile you.

Participation activity

The record of your taking part in a wave, including the contribution to causes that follows from each outcome. Some of this is written to the open record; see the next section for the line.

Cause choices

The verified causes you select as the destination for a defined share. Held so allocation works and can be audited end to end.

Support and contact

Messages you send us and the context needed to answer them. Kept to handle your request and to improve how we respond.

Device and technical data

Basic technical signals needed to deliver the service securely and to keep it working. Used for operation and safety, not advertising.

On the open record vs. kept private

The open record exists so that a wave can be checked by anyone. What it holds is the mechanism commitment and reveal, the participation and outcome of a wave, and the contribution that flows to a chosen cause. These are recorded so the system is auditable, not to expose you.

Your identity is not the open record. Personal details — your name, contact information, eligibility documents, and the private account data behind an account — are kept private and are not published. Where participation must appear on the record for a wave to be verifiable, it is represented so the wave can be checked without putting your identity in public view. The final notice will state this boundary exactly.

The terms we use

Lawful basis
The legal ground we rely on to process a given piece of information — for example, performing the agreement with you, meeting a legal obligation, or a legitimate interest that does not override your rights. The final notice maps each kind of data to its basis.
Retention
How long a given record is kept. Periods are set by what the data is for and what the law requires, then it is deleted or anonymised. We do not state specific durations here; the final notice will.
International transfer
Moving information across borders to run a global platform. Where this happens, it is done under recognised safeguards. The applicable mechanisms and regions will be named in the final notice.

Your rights

Access

Ask what information we hold about you and obtain a copy.

Correction

Have inaccurate or incomplete information about you put right.

Deletion

Ask us to erase information we hold, subject to what the law requires us to keep.

Objection and restriction

Object to certain processing, or ask that we limit it, where the law provides for it.

Portability

Receive certain information in a portable form, where that right applies.

Complaint

Raise a concern with us, and with the relevant authority in your jurisdiction.

Contact and updates

You can reach our team about anything on this page, including exercising a right, through the contact route on this site. We will explain how to make a request and what to expect when the final notice is published.

When the binding notice changes, we will update it here with a date and a version, so the history of what we said and when stays readable.

Most of you stays private. What goes on the record goes there so a wave can be checked — not so you can be.
